Calcium carbide is a basic raw material in organic synthetic chemical industry. It is an important raw material in ethyne industry. In industrial grade calcium carbide, exist about 24% calcium oxide and 6% other impurities (carbon, silicon, iron, calcium phosphide and calcium sulfide).
Appearance: gray, brown, purple or black lump, difference depending on its purity.
Specification: 20-50mm, 50-80mm, 80-150mm.
Application:
(1) Calcium carbide and water chemically react and produce ethyne. Ethyne can use to synthesize many organic compounds, such as synthetic rubber, artificial resin, acetone, ketene, carbon black, etc.. And ethyne is also widely used in metal welding and incising.
(2) Calcium carbide powder and nitrogen can produce nitro lime when heated. Netro lime and table salt can produce black cyanide, which is widely used in gold mining and non-ferrous metal industry.
(3) Calcium carbide is used as desulfurizer in steel industry.
(4) The gas it produces can used for lighting.
